Sales to EU Customers and the GPSR

The EU has implemented a new General Protection Safety Regulation (GPSR) with little advanced noticed that creates onerous additional requirements for small businesses and artists selling to customers in the EU. These include formal safety assessments of products, including individual one-of-a-kind artworks, and hiring a legal representative in the EU. The EU has empowered customs agents to seize and destroy non-compliant orders shipped to EU customers. Presumably, the effect on artists and small businesses is unintended fallout from targeting larger businesses, and will be clarified or corrected at some point. Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to comply at this time. We will be unable to sell to customers in the EU until such time as they are able to refine the regulations and provide reasonable exceptions, or until we find an alternative path to compliance.
